SAN DIEGO BEACH WEDDING Finding
a San Diego Beach Wedding Location Looking for a pleasant seaside location for your ceremony and reception? Reserving a city or county park is very inexpensive and takes advantage of San Diego’s beautiful coastal views. Just one word of warning: you can never be sure that helicopters, dogs, bathing suit-clad bystanders, or boisterous children might not be part of your special day. • Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero Marine Park North and South, and Chula Vista Bayside Park are all stunning coastal sites and most have bathrooms nearby. To use one for your wedding, you need to apply for a permit from the Port District. The permit fee is $35. • Mission Bay Park has over 4600 green areas, perfect for weddings. Contact the Development Regional Parks. Permit fee: $34.50 (non refundable). Additional fees: $12.75 for turf wear and tear if you bring chairs and/or an archway. • Cuvier Park is an attractive, pleasant spot with ocean waves roaring nearby and gulls flying above your head. Site is permitted for weddings but not for receptions. Permit fees – same as Mission Bay Park. • Scripps Browning Park is a beautiful spot, and also quite large. To fill out an application to use this park, contact the Coastal Parks Division. Permit fee: same as Mission Bay Park. What is the Best Time of Year for a Beach Wedding in San Diego? You are blessed by San Diego’s having a close to perfect climate. Unlike other cities in the United States where weddings are seasonal, nuptials are held year-round in San Diego. Tip No. 1: Consider holding your wedding during the off-season months (the season runs from July to October) so wedding vendors will be more readily available. Tip No. 2: Saturday is not the only day to marry: consider having your wedding on a Friday, Sunday or public holiday.
