Ellen Browning Scripps was born in 1836 in London to James Mogg Scripps
and Ellen Mary Scripps. After graduating from Knox College, Illinois in
1859, she taught school for eight years. In 1873, Ellen helped her brother
James start The Detroit News. She retired in 1896 and moved to La Jolla,
California. After breaking a hip in 1922, she became interested in medicine

Arrythmia Center. He received his internal medicine training at Providence
Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. He trained in cardiology at Pacific
Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco and completed a one-year
cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of California,
San Diego Medical Center before joining Scripps in 1990. |
